I remember when I was about ten the skateboarders around my area would wear baggy jeans that covered their Vans or Converse trainers. Mid trick you’d catch a glimpse of what runners they were wearing and only then could you tell what group they were with. I liked the notion that movement could reveal a part of your personality.
The trick is a modern view on the vintage streetwear. It’s not trying to be retro or nostalgic, more of a nod to the classics. A formed, clean surface hides an elasticised seam that allows the trick to flex comfortably. The elastic is only revealed when you are in motion. Movement reveals the core. Otherwise it is a confident, refined aesthetic.
The trick is for the people who probably owned a fixie bike before they became a ‘thing’. They might have a skateboard hanging on their wall at home and think ‘I should really take that out some evening’.
