Arturo is our Mexican specialist in rapid prototyping and model making. These rings are part of a Masters Degree in Design (Metals), which Arturo is currently studying in the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
His skill sets in CNC machining and advanced model making are combined with a strong Mexican Bauhaus influence to define a unique approach to jewellery design.
‘Mexico has a strong tradition in Bauhaus design that evolved from the early 1940s. This was due to the influx of European scholars that were fleeing from WWII in that era and some of their influence can be seen in my work.
These rings show my fascination with the use of primary colours and forms and by the light and shadows they project onto one another. I also like to play with the boundaries of less-is-more by mixing logical formations and random patterns.’
