After 91 very prolific years as a war artist and very influential cartoonist… Thanks Ronald Searle for somehow making it ok to scribble on schoolbooks and for showing through your work how the wandering inky line can lead to compelling images and ideas. Your illustrations for Brendan Behan’s book on New York remain a big influence. I hope they have plenty of paper, ink and champagne wherever you are.
