Dieter Rams Exhibition Less but better

Less But Better, organised by Curate & Design, is an exhibition of work inspired by the industrial designer Dieter Rams.

Shane O’Donoghue and James Early, curators of the exhibition, invited John Moriarty of Design Partners to create a concept based on the ten design principles of Dieter Rams.

The SW01 speaker, a hypothetical home audio device for Braun, was created as a study to see how Rams’s defining ‘Ten Principals’ could be reinterpreted in a contemporary context and in turn showcase a broad level view of the industrial design process to the public.

“The speaker is intended to reflect the fluid unconstrained manner in which we interact with our music and media today. With a small footprint and solid tower construction, the speaker delivers quality sound in a discreet package - reflective of the ever more compact and versatile environments in which we live. A large downward facing bass driver in the lower section and four additional high range passive and active tweeters in the upper part of the product deliver a high quality 360 degree sound experience.”
